Capsule Geology

The Del claims are underlain by Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group rocks (Telkwa Formation). The Telkwa Formation is comprised primarily of andesitic to rhyolitic flows with associated tuffs and breccias. Small masses of Late Cretaceous granodiorite and quartz monzonite (probably related to the Bulkley Intrusions) intrude the volcanics. Associated aplite dikes, up to 2.0 metres in width and striking 070 to 075 degrees with steep to near vertical dips, cut the volcanics.

Regional alteration is locally present as patchy epidote in andesite, with or without quartz and carbonate veinlets.

Mineralization on the Del property consists of disseminations and concentrations of chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, malachite and azurite in andesitic volcanics. The mineralization is similar to the 'B' occurrence (refer to MINFILE 093L 048).

In 1988, a grab sample (#36323) assayed 6.14 per cent copper, and 25.3 grams per tonne silver. Another sample (#32502) assayed 0.21 per cent copper (Assessment Report 18032).

Work History

From 1965 to 1969, excavator trenching occurred on the Del in conjunction with work to the east.

In 1969, geophysics, geochemistry and mapping followed an airborne survey by Summit Oils Ltd in the Joe-Loljuh area. This indicated significant copper-silver-lead-zinc in soil anomalies.

From 1970 to 1972 magnetic, electromagnetic and induced polarization geophysical surveys, soil geochemistry and mapping were conducted by Lobell Mines Ltd under in the Joe-Loljuh area. This outlined a strong chargeability anomaly with associated copper in soil geochemistry in southern survey area.

In 1973, prospecting, sampling and reconnaissance mapping of the Pete, Rudy area by Maharaja Minerals Ltd was completed.

In 1987, a soil survey consisting of 780 samples and evaluation of showings by Geostar Mining Corp occurred. Two significant copper-silver-zinc-lead-arsenic soil anomalies from Loljuh-Joe area were outlined.

In 1988, follow up of RGS stream anomalies with reconnaissance soil, silt and rock sampling by Noranda Exploration Co Ltd. outlined a 500 metre long lead-zinc soil anomaly and 6.1 per cent copper, 25 grams per tonne silver from a quartz-epidote vein from Del area (Assessment Report 18032).

In 2008, two samples were collected from the Del showing by Lions Gate Energy. Results included a maximum of 0.14 per cent copper with no anomalous precious metal values (Assessment Report 30731). Samples were taken from abundant quartz-epidote veins that were less than 1-metre wide. The veins were exposed in trenches.

Refer also to King (093L 041) for general information on the El Toro property, a large property that was worked by Lions Gate Energy Inc from 2007 to present (2015) and encompassed the Tommy Houston Creek area. This area included the Loljuh (093L 166), Joe (093L 168), Rudy (093L 227), Pete (093L 228) and Del (093L 299).

In late 2018 and early 2019, Shamrock Enterprises Inc. conducted an aeromagnetic survey on the area as the Stellar property. This work identified four priority areas, referred to as the Big Dipper, Cassiopeia, Orion and Lynx zones, for ground-based exploration.

In 2019, Aurwest Resources Corp. conducted an aeromagnetic survey over the Stellar property. In 2021, Aurwest completed prospecting, geochemical sampling, and an Induced Polarization survey on the Stellar property.
